book by Torre deRoche
review by Joanna
Love with a Chance of Drowning is a memoir about a couple who travel by sail boat from the California coast to French Polynesia and beyond. Torre DeRoche's recounting of her intense fear of deep water, the mishaps, and the beauty they encounter along the way is both entertaining and inspiring. A couple times I laughed out loud, remembering a story from our own travels while reading about someone else's!
Although there aren't any pictures in this book, the author's words vividly paint every scene. By the time I turned the last page, I had already committed Justin to taking me to French Polynesia, albeit without the perilous ocean-crossing. We aren’t so brave, after all!
